I took Connor to the mall a couple of weeks ago and let him pick out a toy while we were there. He ended up grabbing three Thomas train sets and tore the boxes open before I could put two of them back.
We put the train sets together as soon as we returned home, and he has hardly stopped playing with them since--we've had to change the batteries in each of the three trains three times. This set is eating more batteries than a baby swing.
With that being said, it's probably the best toy we've ever bought for Connor:
- He connects the track pieces on his own.
- He has learned how to turn the trains on and off.
- He can place the trains on the track while the wheels are spinning (that's even hard for me to do).
- He knows when to push certain levers on the track at just the right time to make the trains stop in front of him.
- He's learning the difference between fast and slow (because one train moves much faster than the others).
- He's talking more (about the trains), putting three and four words together. He even yells, "All Aboard!" I think Jimmy taught him that.

Wow, Connor is so smart! Thomas the train seems to be a very popular toy. I know lots of boys who love it. Parker is adorable. I love his cheeks. Kaden didn't start to sit up on his own until right at 6 months. He still won't roll over. He CAN roll from his belly to his back, but he refuses. He hates being on his tummy so he refuses to roll over that way. The pediatrician told me to get on the floor and work with him. I try every day and nothing. I'm kind of worried that he's not doing it although I know he will when he's ready (I hope). But I think Parker is doing great!
Parker doesn't like being on his tummy either.
Connor's doctor told me that a baby usually picks one thing and focuses on it until he masters it. Then, he moves on to something else. In Connor's case, the doctor felt that he was more focused on his gross and fine motor skills.
He's just started showing an interest in really talking. Up until the last couple of weeks, he was only putting two words together. Now, he's putting about 3-5 words together. In fact, he just got out of the bath and told me, "I want a towel."
It's amazing how fast they take off when they do begin to focus on another skill.
Don't be surprised if you find out you have a little talker on your hands. There are days when I wish Connor was more focused on communicating and less active!
That does soundlike a good investment!
Yeah - Gavin does all that himself. He plays with Thomas nonstop. The obsession began right when he turned 2 years old and has been obsessed ever since! They are great toys.
