6 Months

Parker turned six months old yesterday. His little personality is emerging more and more every day. I have definitely started to identify differences between Parker and Connor. I've concluded that Parker is going to be a "thinker" and Connor is a "doer." I'm sure the combination will mean trouble for Mommy and Daddy.

Parker has just started sitting up without my support. He loves his new view point, and spends much of his awake time checking out his surroundings. He's become more coordinated and can grab just about anything you put in front of him. He loves to grab strands of hair that have fallen out of my ponytail and my nose--just a little more incentive to keep his fingernails trimmed.

By the time Connor was six months old, he had been sitting up on his own for a few weeks and was already crawling. We had begun packing for our move from San Diego (to destination unknown) and Connor was using the smaller boxes to begin pulling up. He spent most of his awake time moving, but didn't grab at little things as much as Parker does.

We began letting Parker sit in a walker a few weeks ago. I was amazed at how quickly he started moving forward. He figured it out in just a matter of minutes. He zeroes in on where he wants to go and can get there in no time. He follows me all over the house and giggles ever time he reaches me.

Connor didn't figure out the walker as quickly as Parker. He spent his early days going backwards. But, he didn't seem to mind--as long as he was going somewhere.

Although Connor and Parker have obvious differences in personalities, they both play really well together. Parker lights up when Connor enters the room. I have a hard time trying to distract Parker's attention from Connor, who loves having such an attentive audience. I hope they will grow to be the best of friends in the years to come.
