I'm back!

A ton has happened since my last post in April of '09. Here we are almost 2 years later. We've added a new member to our family, Connor started "real" school and we're anticipating another move (hopefully sooner than later).

My pregnancy with baby # 3, Jack Owen, came as a complete surprise. On the same day I became suspicious that I might be pregnant I had accepted a job as Main Street Manager with the city. So, later that afternoon I found myself also scheduling an appointment with my OBGYN. A couple of days later I found out I was nearly nine weeks pregnant! I was surprised at how far along I was and also relieved that I wasn't feeling sick. But, the next day, morning sickness found me. I knew I would not be able to work under those conditions and also couldn't begin to imagine how hard it would be for me to put an infant in childcare, so I called the city and told them I would have to decline the position.

Half way through the pregnancy, Jimmy and I decided it would be best if I temporarily moved to Mobile with the boys and deliver the baby there where health care is much better than it is along the TX/Mexico border. We were a little concerned about the pregnancy because a year before getting pregnant with Jack my doctor had told me to not get pregnant because medication I was on would cause sever birth defects. I had only been off the medicine for about three months when I found out I was pregnant with Jack.

I was very fortunate to get in with an awesome doctor in Mobile and was reassured many times that the pregnancy was a healthy one. At 34 weeks, I started showing signs of early labor. My doctor expected that I might have the baby at 36 weeks. He advised that Jimmy get in town ASAP. After much convincing, Jimmy rolled into Mobile when I was 37 weeks. At my following OBGYN appointment my doctor mentioned that my progression had actually turned in to regression. WHAT?!? I didn't know that was possible! So, at 38 weeks I was induced because my doctor was going out of town for a few weeks and a very healthy Jack Owen was born weighing 6 lbs., 12 0z.

I cannot imagine life without Jack. He fits perfectly into our not so little family and has brought so much joy to everyone. He is a perfect mixture of Connor and Parker and is always ready to great you with a smile. He's 5 months old now and I anticipate that he will be crawling any day now. Let the fun begin!

Parker excited to bring baby "Jackie" home. I'm not sure Jack will like the nickname the boys have given him.
