Connor turned four years old today! I'm having a hard time accepting the fact that my little man is growing up. Jimmy and I went to see Gran Torino last night and then had a late a dinner. We rushed home so that we would have time to play with Connor and Parker before bed time. While reading books and playing games, I turned to look at Connor and for the first time (in a long time) I noticed that Connor was growing up so fast. What is it about birthdays that makes it so obvious?
Our plan for today was to go to mass, let Connor go up on the alter for his birthday, go home for lunch and bake a cake, have Connor open presents and then eat cake. Our plan changed when I woke up to the sound of Parker coughing and crying. I picked him up just in time to have him throw up all over me.
After many hand washings and outfit changes for me and Parker, I managed to bake and decorate a cake that I felt was 99.9% germ free. While Parker napped, we had cake for lunch and opened presents with Mimi via Skype. Connor's birthday present from us was a hit. We gave him a Batman mask and wings with a 5 ft. span and gloves that making a punching sound when he swings his fist.
Connor was so excited when he opened the "costume." He ran to his room without saying a word and returned wearing only underwear. Then, he told us that he wanted to put his "costume" on right now. We explained to him that it did not come with a Batman suit so he would have to at least put shorts and a t-shirt back on. He wore the wings most of the day, taking them off long enough to eat dinner.
