First Day of School

Connor completed his first day of school today. I was greeted by a few very unhappy kids when I dropped Connor off at his classroom. One little boy even clung to my leg as I was trying to leave the room. Connor, on the other hand, didn't even look back. He walked straight into the room and headed for the play area with his back pack still in tow. After dropping him off, I headed to a mandatory new parent orientation.
Following the orientation, the director asked told the mothers to stand by because she wanted to check and see how the children were doing. As we entered the class room hallway, we could hear at least 20 kids screaming and crying at the top of their lungs. A few of the Mom's were able to identify their child's cry and immediately started tearing up. One Mom actually left with her son and decided they would try again tomorrow.
Connor's teacher came into the hallway to report on his class. Apparently, Connor was the only one in the classroom that hadn't cried. He had already made a friend, Tully, who also has a twin sister in the class. My Dad is convinced that Connor is using Tully to get to his sister, Maggee. I left knowing that Connor was okay.
I returned at 11:50 to pick Connor up. Some of the Moms were still feeling a little worried about their child, so I offered to let them "skip" me in line. When the teacher opened the door and the kids saw their parents the entire class started to cry again, so I thought. But, when I reached the door to get Connor the teacher looked at me and laughed and said that Connor did not shed a tear the entire day. It was then that I realized how grown up he is at only two and a half years old.
That being said, I had every intention to get a picture of Connor at school, but I did not want to add to the chaos of the first day. I think I'll be able to get a few pictures after we return from our trip to Mobile next week. Until then, you'll have to settle for the before pictures taken of Connor just as we were heading out the door this morning.

That's too funny! Adam and I joke about where these kids think they're going when they dart for the door.... like they have some master plot to just get out of that classroom! lol. It almost reminds me of night of the living dead b/c they all come at you as soon as you open the door..... hands reaching like "ok, did you bring my mommy?" lol
Glad he had a good day. Sounds like he should love it!
